Caring for Kids’ Annual Holiday Helpers Drive will run this year from October 1st to December 24th. We are seeking donations of some of our most requested items to distribute to the foster children and birth families we serve to help make this holiday season a special time for them. Many of the individuals we work with would not have a joyous holiday season complete with gifts this year if it weren’t for our donors. Please consider brightening the lives of our clients during this special time of year by donating one or more of the items on our Holiday Helpers flyer. Virtual Mixer at Caring for Kids, Inc. On November 18, 2014, during National Adoption Month, Caring for Kids’ WWK program will be joining in with the WWK programs for Athens and Franklin counties to hold a “virtual” mixer. Each county will be inviting families to their site to view videos of the children that all three programs are seeking adoptive homes for. This format allows for our children to have wider exposure than what they would have at a local adoption party. It also allows families to see children from other areas of the state and to get to know some important things about them through their video interviews.

First-hand Views of Adoption: Our annual event in celebration of National Adoption Awareness month will be held on Thursday, November 20th, 2014,from 6:30-8:30 pm, at the Considine Building in the Akron Children’s Hospital. Views of Adoption features a diverse panel of adoption triad members. Personal accounts from the panel of adoptive parents will be sharing the joys and challenges of: openness in adoption, older child adoption, trans-racial adoption, domestic adoption, infant adoption followed by a Q&A session.
