Before we tell you anything about ourselves, we would like you to thank you for your decision to create an adoption plan for your child. We may not know exactly what you are thinking and feeling right now, but we want you to know that we have the utmost respect and admiration for you. We imagine that this must be a very emotional time in your life, and we feel honored that you have taken the time to learn more about us and our family. We have a tremendous amount of love for each other, and for our daughter Eva, but we still have so much more love to give. Any child who is welcomed into our home will have a bright future with all the opportunities that life has to offer. Should you select us, we want you to know that we will raise your child with love, warmth, laughter, support, and encouragement. We believe that by providing these things, he or she will grow up to be a happy, stable, and independent person. We want him/her to grow up knowing about the difficult choice you had to make, but to know that it was done with love and with his/her best interests in mind.
2: About Us
We met like many modern couples do – on an internet dating site. It was the summer of 2011. Mike was living in Detroit, Chris was living in Cleveland. After reading Mike’s bio, Chris decided to take a chance and send him a message. It was nothing more than a friendly “hello,” but it quickly grew into something neither of us was expecting. We soon exchanged pages and pages of emails and spent hours talking and laughing on the phone. From the very beginning, there was a strong connection between the two of us. The distance could have easily been a deterrent, but we felt a magical connection that neither one of us was willing to ignore. We were each drawn to each other’s undying devotion to family and friends, love for animals, strong work ethic, and commitment to be the best son, brother, cousin, and friend possible. These were just some of the characteristics we both saw in each other that helped to nurture our budding relationship.
3: About Him
Chris is working on his second Master’s degree and recently began his tenth year as an English teacher for a local high school. His job as an educator has also provided him with opportunities to do some amazing volunteer work. Among those efforts are his work with a local non-profit organization that empowers youth to eliminate bullying in schools, and another organization that provides free tutoring assistance to students from other countries who are trying to learn the English language.
4: About Him
Mike has a Bachelor’s degree and is starting his 18th year as a Journalist. He, too, has used his job as a vehicle to help others. Some of his efforts include participating in the Detroit Reading Corps, a tutoring program that assists struggling readers, emceeing various fundraiser events, and volunteering as a guest speaker at area schools to provide students with unique insights into the field of Journalism. Mike is an amazing photographer, and he captures lots of beautiful memories of the time we spend with our daughter and Mother Nature.
5: About our Home/Pets
Our house is filled with books, and even though she cannot read yet herself, our daughter is already learning to appreciate the joys of literature. Each night as we put on our pjs and get ready for bed, we wind down with one of our many children’s books and some family snuggles. We always make time for story time in our house and Eva has plenty of books to share with her future sibling. Even though we work hard, we understand the importance of having some downtime. When we built our new home, we knew we wanted a finished basement that we could unwind and relax in. Our basement has been nicknamed the “Bat Cave.” For the last 25 years, Chris has collected various statues and artwork related to Batman, the X-Men, and other iconic comic book characters. The basement is the perfect place to showcase such a fun and unique collection. It’s also an excellent place for quiet movie nights with our daughter, snuggling under the blanket with some fresh popcorn, or for entertaining friends and family during holidays and social gatherings. We believe you’re only as old as you feel, and we plan to embrace our inner-child for many years to come. Eva loves to point at the wildlife on our walks and is always on the lookout for squirrels, chipmunks, and deer. When at home, she can almost always be found petting our three dogs, laying on them, or calling out “puppies!” as she chases after them. In fact, her love for animals is so great that we recently purchased a family membership for the Cleveland Public Zoo.
