Hello! Thank you for taking some time to get to know us. We cant begin to imagine the emotional roller coaster you may be going through at this time. Making an adoption plan must be an incredibly difficult process. We admire you for both your strength and courage in making this decision. It is our hope, that through this process we will get to meet you, learn about your journey, and hopefully be able to give you some comfort in understanding the life your child will have should you choose us as your baby’s adoptive parents.
It was clear that we both wanted to have a family one day. After several dates and a few months of falling in love, we decided to move in with one another. Over the past 5 years of our relationship we’ve supported each other as we both attended college, obtained a Masters in Business Administration, and pursued individual work goals. We are avid travelers and love to experience different parts of the world. We also have a love for the outdoors and like to hike and run as often as we can. We currently have two dogs named Bruce and Winston who we love to spoil.
As time went on we continued to plan for our future and for the children we would one day hope to adopt. We started searching for a house to begin to lay down some roots in 2020. It was a difficult time due to the pandemic but we persevered and found a wonderful house that we could call our home in 2021. We got married in 2022 surrounded by close friends and family and are now hoping to expand our family and adopt our first child.
We’re always looking for an adventure. Although we have many hobbies and interests, one of our greatest joys includes traveling. We’ve had the opportunity to visit many places in the United States, Canada, and Europe, which have allowed us to experience many different cultures, a passion we hope to share with our future children. In addition to traveling, we also enjoy visiting our local parks and hiking trails. We are fortunate to live close to a national park which we frequent often. It offers a lot of great educational opportunities for both adults and kids so they can better understand the importance of nature.
On a typical weekend, you can find us visiting local coffee shops, hanging out with family and friends, catching up on our favorite shows or running in local races. We’re also big Cleveland sports fans and we try to attend games as much as possible.
His family later relocated back to Canton, Ohio where his mother was born. His father passed away when he was very young but has had the wonderful opportunity to have a step-dad. His step-dad, Dave, has really been the only father he has known, which is why he simply calls him dad. Growing up Shawn was surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. They were always having big family get togethers as much as possible. Family has always been incredibly important to him and continues to be so today.
When he was younger, Shawn loved to be in the spotlight. He was in all the school plays and musicals and also belonged to a local playhouse for several years. Shawn’s parents always allowed him the room to be himself and explore the arts. His parents owned a music store for much of his life so he took an interest in music from an early age. He learned to play the piano, guitar, and to sing. He hopes to be able to pass some of these skills down to his future kids.
As he grew older, Shawn continued studying, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Akron. He would later obtain a Masters degree in Business Administration from Ashland University. Shawn has experienced much success in his career and is currently a Manager of Strategic Communications with CVS Health where he is able to work from home full time.
Doug was born in Ravenna, Ohio on August 17, 1993 and grew up in Kent. Doug’s parents have been married for 41 years and have raised 4 children including three girls and the baby of the family, Doug. Family has always been an essential part of his upbringing. Growing up he was surrounded by a large extended family on both sides, including 30 cousins that he is still close with today.
Doug was always encouraged to try anything and everything. In high school, he was involved in many clubs, and was a member of the track, cross country, and wrestling teams. Doug was also an active member of the band where he played the Tuba.
After high school, Doug attended Kent State University where he graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Advertising and Marketing. He then went on to earn his Masters of Business Administration from Ashland University. He is currently working in Public Relations for a Zoo and is excited to one day share his love for animals with his kids.
Cuyahoga Falls is a safe and diverse community with plenty of parks and a great school system. Our home sits on a cornor lot covered by the shade from three large trees. We have a large fenced in back yard for our dogs and future kids to play in together. Christmas is one of our most favorite times of the year and we love to go all out when it comes to decorating both inside and outside. Several of the rooms have been redecorated, including a new baby room that we hope will soon be filled with a lot of love.
During the spring, we like to host family gatherings where we can sit inside or outside under a covered patio while our twelve nieces and nephews run and play in the back yard. We have also taken over as the official Thanksgiving dinner hosts for Shawn’s side of the family.
