Jonathan & Katherine

Hello and thank you for taking time to learn about us and consider us as you go through the process of deciding who you would like to parent your child. We hope that you will see that our family is very loving and that we are so excited to add a fourth member to our family.

First, before we introduce ourselves further, we want you to know how much respect we have for you. As parents with a biological child, we are aware of the immensely difficult decision you have made in trusting another family to raise your wonderful child. We would like to do whatever we can to support you in this process and make you feel comfortable and loved in our family. We know that you want what is best for your child, and we hope that you will find us to be all you’ve wanted and more for your child.

We met our freshman year of college in 2008.

After first meeting, we became inseparable and we quickly learned that we were each other’s person. We got engaged in 2014 and married in 2016. We had our son, Edwin, in June 2017. We love spending time together as a family.

ABOUT US

Jonathan graduated from Ohio University in 2012 with his bachelor’s degree in microbiology.

During his undergraduate career, he got a job in a lab at the university which led him to the decision that he wanted to get his PhD. He graduated from Ohio University with his PhD in 2017 in molecular and cell biology. I have an immense appreciation for Jonathan’s work ethic and ability to handle stress. While finishing up his PhD research and writing his dissertation, Jonathan also woke up in the middle of the night helping with our son who was a newborn at the time. He truly is an unflappable person and is my rock when things get hard. He works as a research scientist at a university where his lab mates are his second family. Jonathan loves watching sports and trivia, and he is our household’s undisputed king of fun facts. He also loves to build Legos and take on home improvement projects around the house. He enjoys teaching our son about his interests and getting him involved. Jonathan is an amazing person and father and I cannot imagine a better person to be by side in life.

about Jonathan

Katherine graduated from Ohio University in 2012 with her bachelor’s degree in education.

After graduation she began working as a middle school math and science teacher at a local public school district. While still a full time teacher, she earned a master’s degree in education in 2016, and in 2022 she moved to a new teaching job in the school district we live in. Katherine is the strongest person I know, and she has a great sense of humor. She is the brains behind the operation and keeps us all organized and on schedule. She enjoys cooking and shares that love with our son. She is a great mother and I can’t imagine anyone better to adopt a child with.

ABOUT Katherine

Edwin was born in June 2017.

He is our biological son. He is such a loving and cuddly little boy. He loves to sing songs, dance, and play Mario Kart with his daddy. When we are winding down on the couch at the end of the day, Edwin will always choose to snuggle up with one of his parents. He is a sweet, sensitive, and compassionate little boy. Edwin is so excited to be a big brother and frequently mentions things that he cannot wait to teach/show his future sibling. I have never seen a child so excited to be a big brother and I know that he will do an amazing job.

about Edwin

We live in a populous town in Southeast Ohio.

We live a few blocks away from the elementary school and Jonathan walks our son to school in the mornings. We also live a few blocks away from our local library and access to our town’s bike path. Our town is very pedestrian and family friendly. We love going for walks together as a family on the bike path or up to our main street to get coffee or ice cream. Our home has a large backyard with a lovely porch. There is plenty of room for kids to play. We also have two cats named Taco and Nacho. They are very cuddly cats who love to sit with us on the couch or cuddle with Edwin in bed.

Thank you for taking the time to read about us. We hope that our profile has helped you get to know us a little better. We have such incredible respect for you and cannot wait to have you in our lives.
