Emily & Scott

Hello from northeast Ohio! We are incredibly grateful that you’re taking time to learn about us, and we hope to have the chance to learn about you, too. We can only imagine how overwhelming it is to choose an adoptive family for your baby, and we’re honored that you would consider giving us the opportunity to love your child.

We have always wanted to be parents but have suffered some losses along the way. Our daughter, Lily, was stillborn in 2022, and we are unable to have any more biological children. We have always felt that family is defined by love, not genetics, and we would be overjoyed to expand our family through adoption.

We plan to talk openly and honestly about adoption with our child from an early age. We’d like to work with you to create an open adoption plan that can give you peace of mind and let your baby know all about their birth family. Regardless of your desired level of involvement, we will speak of you with respect and gratitude and consider you an important part of our family.

About Us:

Our love story began over ten years ago, when Scott messaged Emily on an online dating site. On one of our first dates, Scott tried to teach Emily to ice skate. He liked that she wasn’t embarrassed to try something new, and she liked that he was a patient teacher and never let her fall. It quickly became clear we’d found something special, and two years later we were married.

Our relationship is built on a strong foundation of trust, respect, and unwavering commitment. We love to make each other laugh, and we are truly best friends.Marriage isn’t always easy, but we show up for and choose one another every day. We have supported each other through some very hard times, and our relationship has only grown stronger for it.

We are excited to step together into parenthood and add a child to a team that we think is pretty awesome!

About Scott:

The most important thing to Scott is family. His childhood was filled with family get togethers and vacations, and he has always hoped to give his future children the same experiences. He loves animals, especially dogs, and is passionate about recycling and environmental conservation. His absolute favorite hobby is playing ice hockey, and he tries to recruit everyone he meets into playing, too. He hopes that if his future child is interested, he can teach them to ice skate and help coach their hockey team.

Scott works as an analyst for a large bank and is fortunate to be able to work from home. He has a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing and an associate degree in graphic design.

About Scott (by Emily): Scott is dependable, loyal, and would do absolutely anything for the people he loves. Scott may seem quiet and serious at first, but he has a silly side that comes out at home. Scott will be a wonderful, attentive father, and I can’t think of a better partner to raise a family with.

About Emily:

Emily is a kindergarten teacher who loves to read. One of her favorite parts of the school day is reading stories to her students—and yes, she does the voices! Emily also loves theater and musicals, whether she is in the audience or on stage. Other hobbies include gardening, playing board games with family, and knitting while watching movies and TV with Scott.

Emily’s master’s degree is in early childhood education. Her undergraduate degree is in creative writing and English, and she also studied theater and women’s studies.

We are fortunate that Emily will be able to be a stay-at-home mom when our future child comes home.

About Emily (by Scott): Emily is kind-hearted and sees the good in people, always giving them the benefit of the doubt. She is open-minded and not quick to judge. She’s a great listener and problem-solver, and she has a crazy amount of patience.

About our Home/Pets:

We live in a safe, family-oriented neighborhood with tons of kids running around. Neighbors get together to organize fun activities like an Easter egg hunt and a 4th of July bike parade.

Though we live in the suburbs, our community has a scenic, country feel. We live near several Metroparks and love to spend time in nature. At home we enjoy working in the yard and have lots of plants and flowers. Our fenced backyard and cozy patio are perfect for family get-togethers, making s’mores on the fire pit, or just enjoying the sunshine. There’s also plenty of room for a future swing set!

Our local school district is small, but close-knit and highly rated. Education is very important to us, and we look forward to being involved in our child’s learning, both in and out of school.

We have a young collie named Cody, who we adopted from a rescue. He is a cuddly goofball who loves everyone he meets. He is especially fond of kids and can’t wait to have a human brother or sister to join our daily walks and play with him in the yard.

Thank you for taking the time to read about us and consider whether we might be the right adoptive parents for your baby. We hope that our profile gives you a glimpse into who we are as people and who we will be as parents, and helps you envision the kind of life your child would have with us. We know without a doubt that you’ll choose the best fit for your baby, and we wish you peace and comfort on this journey.
