Justin & Amy

Thank you for taking the time to read our biography and consider our family. Our names are Amy and Justin. We wanted to take the time to introduce ourselves, and to let you know a little bit about who we are, the vision we have for our family, and our faith.

Firstly, we just want to say that we know this must be an incredibly difficult decision for you. We respect your decision and view it as one of the most selfless decisions that you can make for your child. We cannot imagine the thoughts you are having, but we are praying that you experience God’s indescribable peace. Hopefully, our words and thoughts will give you confidence in making the decision to choose us as your adoptive family.

We met in college in 2004.

We both were leaders in a high school bible study. We became friends fast, and started dating in 2005. In December of 2006, we were married, and have loved being married ever since. We have weathered through the difficult times, and believe that putting in the hard work to sustain a healthy marriage is worth it. In 2009 we started trying for a family but were unsuccessful. We have met with doctors and learned that having children of our own, although not impossible, would be costly and not guaranteed. We both prayed a lot. We’ve prayed about our decision, about what God would want for us and what He wanted our family to look like. We have the most supportive families and community, and they have been praying alongside us as we navigated having a family of our own. After a lot of consideration, a lot of tears, and a lot of prayer, we felt like God was leading us into fostering/ adoption. We made the choice to complete our family through adoption. We have waited a long time for children. We are prayerfully waiting on God’s timing, and at times that has been extremely difficult. Ultimately, He has our trust. We would love to have multiple children, brothers and sisters for your little one.

ABOUT US

Justin is 38 years old and loves to be around people.

He is extremely outgoing and loud, but one of those people that makes you feel welcome the moment you meet him. He is very gentle and kind. Justin graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in English literature and also has a master’s degree in education from Ashland University. He has taught for Columbus City Schools for the past 10 years. He teaches high school English, and loves interacting with his students. Teaching in inner city schools is extremely hard work, but it is not without its rewards. Working alongside these students and families has given him a heart for kids in need, and for children that need a soft place to land. Justin has been a part of his church since he was in 4th grade when his parents were invited by neighbors to visit. He loves spending time with his family, and is very close with them. Justin also enjoys board games, bowling, golfing and motorcycle rides. He is also extremely handy, and fixes almost everything in our home or our cars when it needs repaired. He loves coming home to our dogs and playing with them in the backyard. He loves going on trips to the mountains and being outdoors.

ABOUT Amy

We live in a split level house in a suburb of Columbus.

We are in a working class community and live right down the street from a very highly rated preschool and elementary school. We have lived in our house for 9 years, and over the years, have renovated almost all of it. Our most recent project was to finish the basement so that when we have children, they have space to play. Our house is a a good central location, super close to the Columbus Zoo, but also about 15 minutes from downtown. We have two German Shepherds. Tank is 4 and he is a large goofball, but also extremely sweet. He is a very chill dog who just wants to be near his humans. Ripley is 5 months old. Our dog Sam, who was 8, died suddenly of cancer this past February. Tank was extremely lonely without his buddy, and we missed her terribly. So, we got Ripley. She is an energetic puppy who is nothing but sweet. She melts hearts when cuddling up next to her people. They are both extremely gentle with children, and play with our nieces and nephews often. They have been around children all the way from newborns to teens, and do well everyone they meet.
