Emily & Jonathan

Our names are Emily and Jonathan and we want to thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We can’t imagine the difficult decision you are faced with and truly wish you peace and calm as you work though this process.

Although we have known each other since we were in elementary school, we only just started our life together in 2013. We grew up in the same neighborhood on the west side of Columbus, but our lives led us in different directions – through college, careers, and different cities until we reconnected years later and quickly fell in love. We were engaged five months after our first date and married a year after that in 2014.

Our family and friends are extremely important to us and we love to spend as much time together as we can, playing games and cooking for everyone! We love to host gatherings, but during the pandemic it has been difficult to get together in person, so we FaceTime and Zoom with our loved ones. We are very much looking forward to the day when we can all be together in person again!

We share many of the same interests as each other. In our spare time we enjoy going to the theater and seeing live performances and supporting the great performers in our local community. We enjoy going to the zoo as well as trying new activities! We love to eat and take any opportunity to try exciting restaurants around Columbus, always looking for new places and favorites. We are fortunate to live in a city that has so many wonderful things to offer!

We bought our house in 2015 and live in a great neighborhood on the edge of Columbus with our three dogs. Clay, the wise older brother of our pack, is a lab mix who just turned 12 years old and he is the best older brother any sibling could ever want. Bea Arthur will be five this summer and she is a miniature dachshund/papillon mix. She is definitely the princess and expects all the pampering and attention, like a proper Golden Girl should. And our family just grew by one more with the addition of Freddie Mercury. Like Bea, Freddie is also a miniature dachshund/papillon mix. He’s the sweetest little boy and loves to snuggle when he isn’t busy annoying his siblings.

We have known for a long time that we wanted to grow our family but encountered fertility issues early on. We started working with Caring for Kids a year ago through a recommendation from a friend, and it has been a great experience so far. We are so excited to start the next chapter in our lives and begin to grow our family!
