Making a Loving Adoption Plan For Your Baby

Our Birth Parent Counselors are all licensed social workers and will assist you in developing an adoption plan for your child’s future. During this process, we explore all your options and help you consider a variety of factors when choosing a pre-approved adoptive family. Our goal is to help you identify what is most important to you so we can act accordingly.

As a birth parent, you can request an in-person or over-the-phone interview with the adopting family (only if you decide to). Different factors like religion, other children in the family, and educational values, are taken into consideration, for your peace of mind. You also get to choose the amount of openness and contact you would like to have with the adoptive family – whether you want a closed, semi-open, or open adoption plan.

  • Open Adoption
This very common type of adoption is popular because it takes away the concerns of never seeing their babies again. In an open adoption, also known as adoption with contact, you and the adoptive families share contact information and can include email exchange, letters, pictures, phone calls, and even in-person visits. You can choose your preferred degree of openness.
  • Semi-Open Adoption
This type of adoption is similar to open adoptions. The main difference is that the involved children don’t usually have any kind of direct contact with birth parents. Usually, interaction is limited to the exchange of photos, emails, and phone calls with the family.
  • Closed Adoption
With a closed adoption, no identifying information is shared between birthparents and adoptive families. It is 100% anonymous and involves zero ongoing contact after placement.
